Not every long stay in Phuket wants Patong's buzz. Surin and Layan, on the west coast north of Kamala, offer the opposite deal — quiet mornings, a swimmable bay and dinner as the big event of the evening — and this guide prices that deal honestly.

Surin Beach is a roughly one-kilometre crescent between two green headlands, long nicknamed "Millionaire's Row" for the villas in the hills above it, with monthly condos, apartments and houses in the lanes behind the beach. Keep going north and Layan is a different proposition again: a long, pine-shaded beach at the edge of Sirinat National Park, backed by lagoon and farmland, where the rental stock is mostly houses and villas.

The guide's typical asking ranges make the premium plain: one-bedroom condos around Surin at roughly ฿25,000–45,000 a month, two-bedrooms around ฿40,000–75,000, houses at ฿50,000–90,000, and good Layan pool villas from around ฿80,000 upward — against Patong one-bedrooms commonly from the high teens and low ฿20,000s. In other words, a month here can cost what six or seven weeks in Patong would.

What you buy with the difference is space, quiet and that beach — plus one warning the guide repeats: transport matters here more than almost anywhere on the island, so plan how you will actually get around before you sign.
