Patong Weather Today

Patong Weather Today

Sunshine, sea breeze, or a tropical downpour on the way? This page is your daily look at the weather in Patong and around Phuket — the forecast, the rain risk, and what the sea is doing — updated every morning.

Today's Outlook

Updated each morning.

The daily outlook goes here: the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecast for Patong and Phuket, the chance of rain, expected temperatures, and any flood risk for the day. During big weather events — heavy rain, flooding, landslides — this block is updated live through the day as verified reports come in.

Check back after 8 AM local time for today's update.

Rain & Flood Watch

Phuket's wet season (roughly May to October) can drop a lot of rain in a short time, and low-lying streets in Patong can flood quickly. A few things worth knowing:

  • Heavy rain on the hills above Patong can send water, mud and rocks downhill — avoid flooded underpasses and hillside roads during and just after downpours.
  • Never drive or walk through fast-moving floodwater. It takes less depth than you think to sweep a motorbike away.
  • Storm drains and canals fill fast around Nanai Road and the south end of Patong — give them a wide berth in heavy rain.
  • If officials issue a Cell Broadcast alert on your phone, take it seriously and move to higher ground if you are in a low area.

Emergency numbers:

  • Patong / Phuket disaster line (24 hours): 076-342600
  • National disaster hotline (DDPM): 1784

Sea & Swimming Conditions

Patong Beach uses the standard beach flag system. The flags are there for a reason — the Andaman Sea develops strong rip currents, especially in the wet season:

  • Red flag — no swimming. Conditions are dangerous. Stay out of the water completely.
  • Yellow flag — caution. Swim only in the marked areas, stay where lifeguards can see you, and keep children close.
  • No flags / calm conditions — still take care. Rip currents can appear quickly after storms, and boat traffic lanes cross some swim areas.

Our morning outlook notes the day's sea state and wave height from the TMD marine forecast. When thunderstorm cells are over the Andaman Sea, waves can exceed 2 metres — small boats stay in, and so should swimmers.
